The eligibility criteria for AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) vary depending on the branch and entry scheme. The general eligibility requirements for AFCAT 2024 are given below (as per the latest guidelines):
- Nationality:
– Candidates must be Indian citizens.
- Age Limit:
– Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (Candidates must be born between 02 January 2001 and 01 January 2005).
– Technical Branch (Ground Duty): 20 to 26 years (Candidates must be born between 02 January 1999 and 01 January 2005).
– Non-Technical Branch (Ground Duty): 20 to 26 years (Candidates must be born between 02 January 1999 and 01 January 2005).
Note: Age relaxation is applicable for candidates who have valid and current Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by DGCA (India).
- Educational Qualification:
Flying Branch:
– Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
– Must have studied Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level.
– Candidates having valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by DGCA (India) are also eligible.
Technical Branch:
– Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE(L)}:
– Degree in Engineering/Technology (minimum 60% marks) in any of the following:
– Electronics/Telecommunications/Electrical/Instrumentation/Computer Science/Information Technology.
– Or, Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India in the relevant subjects.
– Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE(M)}:
Degree in Engineering/Technology (minimum 60% marks) in any of the following disciplines:
Mechanical/Production/Industrial Production/Aerospace/Automobile.
Or, Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India in relevant disciplines.
Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches:
Administration & Logistics:
Graduation in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
Accounts:
Graduation in Commerce (B.Com) with minimum 60% marks.
Education:
Post graduation in any discipline with minimum 50% marks.
- Marital Status:
Flying Branch: Candidates must be unmarried and below 25 years of age at the time of commencement of the course.
– Technical and Ground Duty Branches: Married candidates are eligible but they will not be provided married accommodation during training.
- Physical and Medical Standards:
– Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards prescribed by the Indian Air Force, including height, weight and vision requirements.
– Flying Branch: Minimum height 162.5 cms with correlated weight and leg length. Vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other, correctable to 6/6 only for hypermetropia.
– Technical and Ground Duty Branches: Height and weight requirements vary depending on gender and branch. Vision standards are relaxed as compared to Flying Branch.
- Number of Attempts:
– Candidates can appear for AFCAT multiple times, provided they meet the age and eligibility criteria.
- Other Requirements:
– Candidates must have a valid Aadhaar card, email ID and mobile number for registration.
– Proficiency in English is mandatory.
