INTRODUCTION
NORWOOD, Massachusetts —
Amazon workers on strike ,Workers at seven Amazon facilities a the US have walked off the job amid the recent holiday season. From New York to California, Amazon workers raised strike signs and staged sit-ins outside seven Amazon warehouses in four states.
The striking workers say they will continue to fight until their demands are met.
Amazon workers on strike Reason is that ,The striking workers are fighting for higher wages, better benefits and safer working conditions.
The Teamsters have tried to get Amazon to the negotiating table since last year, when the labor organization first said it had unionized a group of delivery drivers in California who work for a contractor. Amazon has denied that, leading the union to file unfair labor charges against the company with the National Labor Relations Board.
The company’s Teamsters union represents all workers as the company has reached its annual negotiating deadline. The Teamsters union, which claims to represent 10,000 Amazon workers at 10 plants, said workers at more locations are ready to join the fight.
“We live in one of the most expensive cities in the country,” one striking worker said. “We want to be able to live here and take care of our families, and we can’t afford to pay our families this much.”
The strike affects no more than 15 Amazon warehouses in Massachusetts.
However, Teamsters have demonstrated outside an Amazon facility in Johnston, Rhode Island, where they said they are trying to convince other workers to join their union. So far, the Teamsters have not said how many workers are participating in the strike, nor how long it might last.
“You know, UPS does the same thing, they get paid twice as much,” said Teamsters organizer Corey Levesque. “We need to create better wages for these Amazon workers, better working conditions within the facilities, better retirement.”
Where are the strikes taking place?
According to the Teamsters union’s announcement, the strikes are taking place at three delivery hubs in
- Southern California and one each in San Francisco,
- New York City,
- Atlanta,
- Georgia,
- Skokie,
- Illinois.
Amazon officials said
- many of the striking drivers do not work for them directly, but work for contractors.
- The company said the strikers represent a small portion of its 800,000 employees in the U.S.
- As a result, Amazon insisted deliveries would not be affected during the holidays.
- One expert, however, said the timing of the strike was no coincidence.
The National Labor Relations Board certified an Amazon workers union election, but the company objected to the representation vote and refused to bargain. In the process, Amazon also filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the labor board, which it accused of tainting the vote.

Thoughts
“Generally, I think unions tend to find opportunities where they can put pressure on the company,” said Tom Smith, an economist and finance professor at Emory.
conclusion :
But Amazon is the world’s largest e-commerce company. They will probably resolve the issue soon by talking to the workers.
