JEE Exam 2025: The number of attempts were limited to twice in two consecutive years.
JEE 2025 Increased number of attempts ,From this year, the number of attempts in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has been increased from two to three.
Any student can attempt Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) a maximum of three times in three consecutive years. Whereas earlier the number of attempts was fixed at two.
JEE Main 2025 Eligibility I
Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the BE/BTech paper (Paper I) of JEE Main 2025. However, the notification announcing the increase in the number of attempts also states that the total number of candidates may slightly exceed 2.5 lakh in the presence of an “equal” rank or score in any category. Other eligibility for JEE Advance 2025 will remain the same.
The percentage of different categories of candidates to be shortlisted is as follows: 10% for General-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and the remaining 40.5% is open to all. Within each of these five categories, 5% horizontal reservation is available for Divyang candidates.
This is as per the judgment dated 03rd February, 2023 passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891/2021, OCI/PIO candidates who have obtained OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021 shall be treated as Indian citizens for the purpose of seat allocation in IITs. However,
these candidates are not eligible for the benefit of any type of reservation (e.g., GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST) with the exception of OPEN-PwD.
